i think i'm finally breaking away from this crazy cold / major impediment on my daily life and routine!!! it's amazing what anti-biotics can do (thanks zithromax!). i was able to venture out on the MARTA system (thier version of DC's METRO). very easy to use and get around. i went back to the lennox square mall area and just did some basic shopping (jacket from j. crew) and returned some shoes at urban outfitters that i bought last week. the mall was crazy and jampacked but not ridiculously so. since i haven't done laundry since i've gotten here, i've run out of underwear and didn't buy any more to cover me for the next few days. oh well -- i guess it's back to the mall again for me!!! :-)

tomorrow i go back to work and i REALLY gotta work. i did practically NOTHING this week. i don't need my roommate MARK to show me up! (j/k). the people here are geniunely nice, but definitely not go getters and proactive. this place is shutting in less than 5 days!!! bless their hearts.

the easy day turned into a bit of irritation today. just had to deal with a *baggage* issue -- i won't bore you with the details, but airline customers and lost luggage is not cute. i thought i was doing something nice for the local folks to be able to get home early today and spending thanksgiving with their own families. oh well -- and to think, i was sort of feeling better!

anyway -- i'm in my hotel room in a distant city with no friends, no car, and no where to go for dinner. oh whoa is me!
actually got into work today! yayyy. i'm just a chock-full-o-phlegm tho.

BRAVO > Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

This show was on network tv tonight. Considering this whole 'metrosexual' thing being over the top and a tad bit *trendy* -- I love this show! Kyan is cute too!
i am sooooooooooo sick right now. some kind of viral infection i think. i hate being ill. ugh.

way too much going on with me ...

wanted to get a head start on my *long weekend* from work and attempted to get on a flight immediately after work on saturday. was able to hitch a ride on airtran but had a hellacious day at the ticket counter. we were short staffed -- my boss came in late and an alternate person from fort lauderdale never came in at all! that left myself and another local crewmember basically working the ticket counter ourselves. working hard isn't an issue per se, but when you're short staffed and have to work around the local geography of the airport (1.5 miles from the ticket counter to the gate area) -- it can get pretty stressfull and intense. as a result -- a 45 minute check-in cut off is imposed which is almost always stretched to the limit. when we finally could not take any more people, up come more customers with tons of bags expecting to be checked in an boarded on a flight in less than 30 minutes. it's just logistically and practically impossible if we want to attempt an on-time departure! people just end up getting REAL ghetto and mean and you're stuck there trying to deal with it all in as a professional manner as possible. it all worked out tho. we closed up and i immediately got changed and went off to take my flight to san francisco. since i got to work early that morning, i didn't sleep the night before (you try getting into work at 3:30 am!). once i sat down in my seat, i was knocked out!!! i think i woke up maybe twice on the 5 hour flight over. once we landed and i got into the main airport terminal -- i realized that i left my keys behind in atlanta! argh -- after a few phone calls to my roommate in atlanta and various friends and family's voicemails, i ended up having to get a hotel for the night and wait for my keys to come in on the next jetblue flight the next AM! too much to go into detail in writing -- just a whole lot of frustration and wasted time. just ask me about it -- i'll give you all the gory details!

got really drunk on sunday night at the lonestar and the planet big party. hung out with my long beach pal mike and met a few of his friends. i had a blast and drank way too much. i think i ended up having a hangover BEFORE i fell asleep last night. i'm okay now. i felt really popular last night, though. interesting. oh yeah -- i finally met my (sorta) cyber-stalkee last night. i chickened out and decided not to say more than, "hello." i guess i'll just send him an email later on.

it's monday morning now and i'm here in kinko's. i just submitted my timesheet for the week (late, of course) and trying to settle down some *home* stuff until my flight out tonight. got a voicemail from my roommate that apparently one of our fellow crewmembers from new york is missing. something about the police retrieving his id and wanting to know where he is. we don't know if he's missing, wanted by the police or what. everyone is worried. hopefully we'll find out what up soon.

wanted to go down to orlando today and visit ... some old friends and a new *special* friend. won't say much for now. hopefully it'll turn out to be a good thing. had issues trying to secure passes to fly down tho. i ended up just going to the mall (what else would i do, right?) with mark. i bought some new pumas from urban outfitters and a shirt from banana republic. call me predictable -- it's just me.
looks like my routine here is work at 3:30am. get off around 12:30pm. eat, walk around, hang around online until 3:30pm. take a nap until 8:30. stay awake until 2am. start all over again! ahh, the life!?!

i'm kinda liking it a lot around here in the *south*. people are genuinely nice a pleasant. alarmingly so. the people that come up to the ticket counter and fly us are sooooooo ghetto tho. BLESS THEIR HEARTS! :-)

i'm sitting here in my hotel room after a so-so day at work. (3:30am-12:30am shift). just took a look out the window and i have this perfect view of the airport (ATLANTA HARTSFIELD INTERNATIONAL). the 2 concourses i do see show that it's wall-to-wall DELTA planes. dang. they are just too happy to see us go. it's all good. after all, this is their country, right? we'll be back soon enough.

been in my hotel room all day trying to recover from my jetlag. i took a nap and watched mtv & vh-1 all day. right now is the mtv europe music awards. hosted by christina aguilera and taped in edinborough, scotland. it's kinda funny how most of the performers and awards presenters are american. i wonder if they really understand outkast and andre 3000. makes one wonder.

wait -- eminem just won an award. he says in his acceptance speach -- "what's up crackers?" talking about how he doesn't still need to be reminded that he's a white rapper, etc. and that singleing him out makes it racist in itself. too much.
took the red-eye out on friday night. who knew that flying those late night flights out to the east really gave you RED EYES! the flight was just a little over 4 hours! i love traveling during the winter time!

oh yeah -- heading down to ATL tonight for work. gotta get packed.

Erasure Information Service

I love me some Erasure! People will always acuse me of being *stuck back in the day* or whatever, but music has always played an important part of my life. Not necessarily playing it, but buying and listening to it. The 80's were the best for me, personally. Erasure just released another best of with an accompanying DVD. Just bought them both and it just brought me back to happier times.

okay -- 3rd update in the same day. i really am BORED. really don't want to go to work again tomorrow. i think i'll actually attempt to go to the gym in the AM. i really, really need to get fit. i guess those 3 fun size snickers bar and can of dr. pepper i just had aren't going to help much, huh?

i'm just sitting here and surfing the web and NOTHING interesting at all! i took a nap earlier this afternoon -- i probably won't get to bed until around 2 or 3 AM. woo-hoo.

Wednesday, November 12, 2003

just spent the whole morning trying to updated my webpage to include a bio and a direct link from here. sheesh. back in the day -- html was soooooo easy.
being lazy again -- i'm just gonna burn up my PTO (personal time off) and not go into work again today. it's such a nice day -- the sun's out and the skies are blue! yeah, whatever. i think i'm going to get my hair cut and then roam the city a bit. oh the excitement, eh?
i've been absolutely lazy these past couple of days. today technically should have been my monday and back to work. i decided to stay in and attempt to clean up the room. i got half of it done and my closet somewhat organized but nothing else. after lunch, i fell asleep and woke up around 5:30pm. oops. oh well.

last night went to dinner and the movies with gina. saw elf. it was cute. will ferrell is an idiot! luv him.

had a pseudo-date tonight. dave is a nice man. a total teddy bear. it's amazing how much play i've been getting while hanging out in bars these days. i wonder why just now tho. hmm.

in long beach right now. had a pretty long week back home in oakland -- standard and normal events, though. i decided to fly down for the weekend to hang out with my friend mike. he's at the gym right now (someplace i need to be) and i'm just waiting for him to get back. i think we're heading on down to LA in a bit to check out some of the *tourist* places. i haven't really done that in this area since i was like in high school back in the 80's.

last night we did the long beach bar crawl -- i was tired so most of it was spent cruising around in mike's car and me saying, "yay" or "nay" (sp?). it was mostly, "NAY" much to mike's chagrin (sp?).
