another week. another weekend gone by. went to new york city on saturday. since i wasn't able to secure passes on another airline to get to new york, i ended up buying an amtrak ticket for $64. i could've gone for free on jetblue of course, but i just couldn't justify flight down to orlando to get to new york from boston justifiable. i could, however, fly down from new york to orlando to get to boston today, though. hmm. i figure, since new york is already south of boston, it wouldn't be as bad to double track the whole thing. whatever. i'm back ... after 7+ hours of flying and waiting around in an airport.

new york was fun tho. went out shopping in soho and hung out with glen, jay, and jayme at the dugout on sunday. it was super cold. i just can't wait for winter to be over with. oh yeah -- glen gave me a burberry pea coat! woo-haa!

flying down on my 2nd leg from orlando to boston really got on my nerves. the flight crew questioned my credentials and the fact that i didn't introduce myself to them correctly as a *non-revenue* passenger. was i jumpseating? did i say hello to the flight crew?? did i have have on my correct identification??? answer 1: NO. i was traveling on my on leisure time taking full advantage of my free flight benefits. answer 2: NO. not at first -- as i boarded, i was given last seating clearance by the local crew and ended up getting on last. the moment i walked on, the #1 flight attendant was busy dealing with an unaccompained minor and the pilot was giving his welcoming spiel all the while we were approaching the scheduled departure time ~~ we were running late. i ended up boarding like normal, going straight to my seat in the LAST row to avoid any unnecessary delays on my part. i did introduce myself to the aft cabin crew and asked them to tell the #1 that i was onboard. for some reason, this cause major / minor scandal. answer #3: YES. about 3 people inspected my id after i walked on board! ugh. anyway -- it's over and this is off my chest. now i can sleep. NOT. ;-)

woke up in a tizzy early monday morning ... thought my mom was flying in from denver. i messed up -- she's coming tuesday (later on this) morning. oops. meanwhile -- why was there major drama at work today. ugh. i dunno if i can handle it being at this new station with all the newbies. i just have to tell myself -- it's all just growing pains. they'll get it ... eventually.

after my false start at work -- i just went back to the hotel and slept till about 3pm. it was my 2nd day off afterall! i ended up going into downtown boston to buy underwear of all things. it's been almost 2 weeks that i've been here and haven't had a chance to do laundry yet. mark, my roommate, just told me though that the hotel set up a small washing machine area for the long term guests but they're keeping it on the downlow for some reason. bastards! i guess i'll be doing laundry after work. how exciting!

i'm always complaining about the weather. it was okay today -- just a little snow flurries. :-)

today was a preview of vh-1's BANDS REUNITED. the featured band was berlin. they were fun back in the day. one of the few american new wave bands that i was into. of course everyone was a lot older and a lot fatter, but hey!?! lol. meanwhile -- why was of the keyboardists this really yummy BEAR? of course he was living in the san francisco area too! uh huh. i need to find a pic of him.

i'm being drug out by mark tonight. i really don't feel like going out. oh well.

it's cold as SHIT!

trying to get into the groove of things here in boston. worked on a lot of paperwork regarding policies and procedures. boring but necessary. it's just difficult trying to get people on the same page. still trying to talk to the GM regarding the admin position here. i'm having second thoughts. cost of living here is soooooo much higher than what i'm living on now. also -- there certain (temporary) somebodies here still getting into the mix of things. i just don't want to get wrapped up and involved them right now.

"my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard!"

these past couple of days have been colder than i could ever recall ever experiencing. single digit temps are NOT cute. i'm just not venturing out of the hotel and the airport until the weather becomes more bearable. i even flew down to orlando on saturday night just to get away for a bit. meanwhile -- why was it in the low 40's down there!?! ugh.

today is my *sunday. i did nothing but surf online. i did, after all, pay $30 to gain high speed access for a week! come to think of it ... i need to download songs or porn or something ...

psuedo normal day at work today. no real hitches in the system -- stayed around to *help out and answer questions from the crew. decided to go actually go to the hotel gym today. ran 2 miles in 30 minutes. not great, but a GREAT accomplishment on my part considering i haven't excercised in almost 2 years! yikes.

the station finally opened today. lot's of craziness but that was expected. i'm still trying to get through this weird cold i'm going through. i can deal with the sinus headaches and stuffiness, but when i get these dry throat issues, i start to phlegm up like crazy and almost choke on it. gross -- definitely NOT cute.

still trying to get a grasp of this city. i think after my normal work shift of 0400-1230, i'll explore the city on my own.

finally in boston! it's overcast with freezing rain right now. oh the joys!

had the toughest time trying to get here. ended up getting bumped off my own airline last night in oakland trying to get to new york. it was a simple mistake i'm sure, but i just didn't need to be bothered. i just wanted a seat and to sleep. me and mark ended up catching a flight to dulles instead with the plans of taking the amtrak up. luckily, though, we found a sympathetic united ticketing agent who helped us plan an itinerary that was feasibile considering overselling and standby dramas. we lucked out with 2 first class seats on a direct flight from dulles to boston on a 757. mark felt slighted because he wasn't acknowledged by any of the crew with a hello or even a beverage. myself on the other hand, had 2 cups of coffee and a oatmeal raisin bar. yummy.

i'm in my hotel room now trying to figure out my day. the dinner is later tonight somewhere. i don't know where to go for lunch. i guess we'll do some exploring.

new year. new outlook on life? just got home (oakland) from a little trip home (md/dc). it was a marathon flight ... a little over 6 hours! that's winter travel for ya. spent the new year's eve and most of the day with the *party boys* at velvet nation and a couple of after hours parties. sketchy new year indeed. they were fun tho.

i have to get myself ready for the big boston assignment for work. i only have a day to pack and get back to the east coast! ugh.

music-wise ... i'm having a sort of CARPENTERS obsession. don't ask me why.
