i survived

yeah -- it's taken me almost a week to recount the events from my nyc shenanigans from last week. suffice to say, i am ALIVE. it's not like i went crazy or haywire with anything, but i did find myself in precarious situations once or twice during the weekend. if i see anyone who reads this in person, please remind me to tell you what i did POST junior vasquez sunday evening. it basically invovled a lot of WALKING! hmm. other than that it was an amazing party weekend. the sights and sounds were more than i expected to experience. sex shows up close, (not so) personal, and things aside -- it was all about the music for me. the lighting was amazing at the BLACK PARTY. the highlight for me was definitely OFFER NISSIM. he was totally NOT was what I was expecting. never before have i seen a dj so into what he was doing. dancing and flailing and hands up in the air~~wow. about 3 songs into his set, he busted out BETTY DAVIS EYES on top of his signature beats and i was simply through it. simply amazing.

black and tan

no, it's not another blurb about the black party. it's a new flavor from BEN & JERRY'S ice cream! to die for! wow. LOL.

The Black Party NYC

the black party in nyc is touted to be "gaydom's premier underground dance party for more than a quarter of a century." it takes place this weekend for what is officially a 24-hour "dark, heavy, sexually-charged musical odyssey!" (i kid you not -- these are quotes from the official press release). this year's theme: SCHWARZWALD: The Black Forest. I think you're supposed to imagine PETER AND THE WOLF ... on krack! to those not necessarily familiar with the annual event -- think a huge dance party, in a super huge venue, with lots of great music and a tinge of heavy leather and sex! this will be my first time attending the said event. by all accounts, this just seems to be another *gay circuit event* but instead of a series of parties over the course of a weekend or week, it's just one huge and LONG party with a slew of unofficial tagging along before and after. last night (friday) was the SAINTS & SINNERS party aboard the frying pan (an actual sea vessel ship) docked at the Chelsea Piers. DJ Rob Harris from DC spun an amazing set! sunday afternoon at the official after party is junior vasquez @ pacha. later that afternoon is alegria extreme @ crobar. WHAT?!?

i'm sooooo excited for tonight! the main dj's spinning the official party are peter rauhofer and offer nissim. two of my big favorites from the past year. a lot of my clubbing friends from home are coming up to enjoy in the festivities as well. it's going to be an awesome night especially when the DC KR*CKER KREW INVADES NYC! lol. lasting until the very end??? we'll see.

waiting in the darkness

it's about 7:30 pm and i'm sitting in my friend jay's room in the dark except for my laptop and the tv. am i being sketchy? no, not really. i simply can't find a light to turn on! meanwhile -- i am indeed *SUPER SKETCHEE* by the sheer fact that i am still here in the dark refusing to leave the room for fear i have to interact with his roommate! wow.

nothing better to do

it's been a week since my last posting. instead of trying to get my life back together, i haven't done a DAMNED thing except some laundry, clean house, and a whole of net surfing and MYSPACING! last night it got to the point where i was updating my i-tunes folder(s) and finding pictures for each track tag! of course, i end up getting sidetracked every which way and now it's all about YOUTUBE and finding videos of long lost 80's groups like this one:

The Belle Stars - "Sign of the Times" (circa '82-'83)

Wow, loved them! ;-)

in de ghetto!

i live in an area / neighborhood of washington, dc called SHAW. with the advent of gentrification all over the place here, i certainly live on the *fringe* of what is and what isn't ghetto (pronounced: zhet-toe) LOL. on the way home from frank's house i took the #96 city bus across town enroute to stadium armory. at around 1:30 am i witnessed the most interesting of things. (mind you i was the only one on the bus at the time!) at the corner of 14th street and u street, nw, the bus operator proceeded to jump out of the bus at a red light and tried to make his way to the all night mcdonald's window on the corner. exasperated because he was obviously hungry and the line was too long, he reluctantly got back on the bus to continue on his late night route. as the bus operator was buckling himself back in, some random man waiting for another bus to come by offered to sell him his pizza for $5.00. As a whole stop light cycle came and went, I literally witnessed an exchange of words to sell this sausage and olive pizza from PAPA JOHN'S. "Let me see it!" "It's cold!" "Oh no you didn't just drop it! Damn, I'm *howngree* -- lemme buy that damned pizza!" Wow -- the driver finally bought the pizza and in the same motion, trying to catch the next green light, proceeded to drive the bus with a somewhat cold pizza in his right hand, and pizza box and steering wheel in the other! To make things better, we pick up another rider about 2 blocks down who tries to use a bus transfer well expired beyond the time allotted. The driver then quizzes the new rider about how old the transfer is with his mouth full of pizza and driving at the same time. The rider, in turn, attempts to actually pay another fare when lo and behold, the driver asks if the kid has any soda in his bag. The kid pulls it out and gives it to him and is subsequently excused from paying another fare! WOW!!!! I live living in the city. :-)

Getting started ... again.

It's been over 4 or 5 weeks since I've resigned from my job. This *whole lot of doing nothing* is definitely catching up on me. All I do is just sleep all day. I need to get my ass rolling on getting a job. This idea I have with Collin is just on the begging stages. More details later ... but I hope i works out for the best. My $$$ are running out.

I finally got my website up and running. No real content, but just a jumping point to go to my various other *spaces on the web* such as Friendster and My Space. This project alone took me about 4 hours! Hey, it's an ACTIVITY, right?
